How To Dispose of Unwanted Trash Barrels or Carts
Residents on the curbside trash collection program will be receiving a Blue Cart with a Yellow lid for trash & garbage disposal. Starting on October 1, 2024, Capitol Waste Services will only be picking up trash & garbage from the approved cart that is provided by the Town of Randolph.
- The cart with the yellow lid is your new trash / garbage cart.
- The cart with the blue lid is your existing recycle cart and there are no changes to that program.
Before September 30, 2024, you can place your unwanted, empty trash barrel at curbside “upside down” on your normal trash day so that Capitol Waste can pick it up for disposal.
After September 30, 2024, if you have a trash barrel or cart that you own and would like the town to take it from you, then schedule it as a bulk pick up. Follow the instructions below as noted in the Town Recycle & Trash guide for scheduling a bulk pick up. You need to call it in at least a week in advance of your normal trash day so it can be picked up on your normal trash day just as you would a piece of furniture for example. See below as noted in the Town recycling & trash guide.
BULK ITEM PICK UP (MUST SCHEDULE 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE)
Bulk items must be scheduled one week in advance of your regular trash day. To schedule, call the Health Dept. at (781) - 961- 0924 or use SeeClickFix on the town website, www.randolph-ma.gov (scroll down under “Follow Us”).
Accepted items include but are not limited to: toilets with tank removed, sofas, recliners, desks, chairs, large toys, lawn furniture, and rugs bundled in 3 ft. pieces. Unwanted trash & garbage barrels must be empty and inverted upside down to signal that it is out for pick up. Bulk items are limited to three items per week per address.
Not Accepted: appliances (stoves, refrigerators, washer/dryer, freezers, water heaters or air conditioners), wood, construction debris, doors and windows.
Repurpose your unwanted Barrel or Cart for Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Day
You may also keep the barrel or cart that you own and repurpose them to store your leaf & yard waste. It will save you the cost of purchasing brown paper leaf & lawn bags. In addition, your old barrel or cart will protect the leaves & yard waste from the weather. The barrels or carts that you own can be used at curbside for leaf and yard waste on the following dates;
