The Randolph DPW Spring Water Main Flushing Program is scheduled to begin on the week of March 18th.
Annual flushing is an essential maintenance function necessary to maintain water quality, improve the carrying capacity of pipes, and ensure the proper operation of distribution system components, such as hydrants and valves. Flushing will be conducted during the evening between the hours of 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM. Specific dates for your streets and/or neighborhood will be provided on social media platforms, signs in your neighborhood and we will keep the schedule below updated as our program progresses.
While conducting flushing operations in your neighborhood, you may experience discolored water or a small drop in water pressure. Should your water appear reddish, yellow or brown, do not be alarmed. It is recommended you do not use the water or do laundry for two hours after noticing this discoloration. After you have waited, run your cold-water tap (without the aerator screen if possible) for five to ten minutes. This should remove any sediment from inside your service. If you continue to see discolored water, we ask you to call the Water Department at 781-961-0940 during normal business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm).
(Please note: you should check the schedule frequently as dates will be made more specific and/or may change due to weather or other factors)
