[ARCHIVED] Spring Hydrant Flushing Continues May 22nd to May 26th.

Hydrant-Flushing

The Randolph DPW Spring Water Main Flushing Program began the week of May 15th.

Flushing is an essential maintenance function necessary to maintain water quality, improve the carrying capacity of pipes, and ensure the proper operation of distribution system components, such as hydrants and valves. Typically, flushing activities will be conducted during evenings between the hours of 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM. Specific dates for your streets and/or neighborhood will be provided on a daily basis through our social media platforms and we will keep the below schedule updated as our program progresses. (Please note: you should check the schedule frequently as dates will be made more specific and/or may change due to weather or other factors)

While conducting flushing operations in your neighborhood, you may experience discolored water or a small drop in water pressure. In the unlikely event your water service is interrupted or you are experiencing no water pressure, please notify the DPW as soon as possible at 781-961-0940.  Should your water appear reddish, yellow or brown, do not be alarmed. It is recommended you do not use the water or do laundry for two hours after noticing this discoloration.  After you have waited, run your cold water tap (without the aerator screen if possible) for five to ten minutes.  This should remove any sediment from inside your service.  If you continue to see discolored water, we ask that you call the Water Department at 781-961-0940 during normal business hours (7:00 am to 3:30 pm).
