Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 3rd, 2024. William was the loving son of Greek Immigrants Christos and Georgia Alexopoulos. Born in Boston, William and his family moved to Randolph in 1963, a Town which he loved. He attended the Devine School in Randolph, graduated from Thayer Academy and later Boston University with a degree in Biology.

Bill dedicated over 40 years of his life to the Randolph community, serving in numerous roles, including as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Board of Health, Town Meeting Member, Chairperson of the Joint Water Board, Board of Selectmen, and Town Council. Known for his unwavering principles and gentlemanly demeanor, Bill was a familiar face at Town Hall, often stopping by multiple times each week to check in on town business. You could always tell when Bill was here by the sight of his big red truck with his personalized license plate in the parking lot!

Bill’s life was a testament to faith, family, friendship, and community. He was a quiet but generous donor to Randolph’s nonprofits, charities, and local sports organizations. His contributions were not made for recognition, as many were private, but simply from a desire to help neighbors in need.  I was honored to serve alongside Bill as a Selectman in the late ’90s and to work under his leadership as Town Council President. He was a voice of reason, a calming presence, and a true friend to all.

Bill and the Alexopoulos family have owned and operated Randolph Automotive for over sixty years. As one of Randolph’s longest-standing businesses, Randolph Automotive has built a legacy of quality and exceptional customer service. Originally founded as "Eli and Chris Shell" in 1963 by Bill’s father, Chris, Randolph Automotive is now a proud third-generation business. Bill was dedicated to carrying on his family’s tradition, earning the trust of thousands of customers who valued his honesty, compassion, and commitment to his word.

A man of great faith, William was a dedicated parishioner of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, in Brockton, MA. William served many terms on the Parish Council, where he most recently held the position of Vice President. He undertook many projects to beautify the Church and make updates where needed, so that the parish can flourish for years to come. His Orthodox faith and Greek roots were fundamental parts of his life.

William was also a devoted member of the Randolph Lodge of Elks #2130, a life member of the Braintree Rifle and Pistol Club, and a member of the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club’s Upland Committee, where he enjoyed spending weekends afield, pheasant hunting with his son, Christos, and his birddog, Stella. Not one for choosing sides, William also enjoyed his time with his daughter Nicole’s dog, Hunter, who would often serve as his personal comfort dog. An avid automotive enthusiast, William enjoyed his car collection and attending car shows. William enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, where he would enjoy the time to relax. An avid Boston sports fan, William was a Patriots season ticket holder for over 30 seasons and would take his children to their first games at the old Foxboro Stadium.

William was happily married for over 37 years to the love of his life, Alexandra (Orphanos) Alexopoulos, who he met at a Church event. He was the loving father to Christos Alexopoulos, and Nicole Alexopoulos and her Fiancée, Robert McElhinney, all of Randolph. William leaves behind his sister Evangeline Zervos, and her husband Diamantis, and their children, Anastasia (George) Scrivanos of Brookline, and Michael (Meeghan) Zervos of Randolph, In-Law’s Ike & Artemis Tingos of Belmont and their children, Kostas and Chloe, Joanna Orphanos of Watertown, and his loving mother Georgia Alexopoulos of Canton.

William’s life was a testament to faith, family, friendship, and community. In lieu of flowers, Donations in his memory may be made to: Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Brockton, 457 Oak Street, Brockton, MA 02301, and Pheasants Forever, Inc 1783 Buerkle Circle, St. Paul, MN 55110, so that other young boys will have the opportunity to spend time in the uplands with their fathers.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, November 9th from 9:00 - 10:30 AM in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 AM in the Church. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Arrangements under the direction of the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main St., Randolph.
