Route 24 Northbound Bridge Work Impacts
This weekend, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation is replacing the Route 24 northbound bridge over Canton Street in Randolph. From Friday, May 3rd to Monday, May 6th, there will be lane shifts and lane reductions on Route 24. Northbound traffic will be shifted onto the southbound bridge which will carry two lanes in each direction. After passing through the work zone, vehicles will return to the normal traffic pattern along Route 24.

How will this affect you?
Closure of Canton Street- Timing: 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 6th.
Details: During the closure, Canton Street will be closed to vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Vehicles will be redirected on an 11-mile detour along state roads (see bottom of the page).
Closure of Route 24- Timing: 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd to 4 a.m. on Monday, May 6th.
Details: As vehicles approach the bridges, travel lanes will be reduced from three lanes to two. Northbound traffic will be shifted onto the southbound bridge which will carry two lanes in each direction. After passing through the work zone, vehicles will return to the normal traffic pattern along Route 24.
What is happening? MassDOT is replacing the Canton Street bridge over two weekends. Traditional bridge replacement can take over two years. MassDOT is utilizing Accelerated Construction for this project where they construct large portions of bridges offsite, then install the bridge over two weekends, this is the second weekend.
Weather: If weather causes a delay, the work will be done the following weekend. Updates will be posted on the Town website under “News.” Please sign up for The Town of Randolph “Hyper-Reach” Emergency Notification System by texting the word "RANDOLPH" to: 781-805-3030.
Public Safety Information: Randolph Police and Fire Departments will maintain coverage during the closures. You can contact either department as usual during the closure at 781-963-1212 (Police), 781-961-0991 (Fire). In case of emergency, dial 911.
Traffic Flow: While Canton Street is closed, traffic will be detoured as shown on the Detour Map (see below). Please note: York Street in Canton will be open during the closures.
